Invisalign

At St Kilda Orthodontics, our orthodontist, Dr. Joshua Ch'ng, has extensive knowledge and expertise to straighten your teeth with Invisalign.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign Clear Aligner Therapy involves the use of a series of clear and customised removable plastic aligners that are designed to gradually move teeth into their desired position.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

  • Clear and therefore hard to see

  • More comfortable and less bulky than conventional braces.

  • Removable

  • Easier for you to keep your teeth clean

  • Does not stop you from eating particular foods.

What is involved in Invisalign Treatment?

During your complimentary consultation, our orthodontist will complete a comprehensive examination and assess whether you are a candidate for Invisalign treatment.  If Invisalign is right for you, we take a set of records of your teeth, then use 3D technology to create a customised 3D treatment plan.  Based on the final treatment plan, a series of custom-made aligners are made and shipped to the practice.

During the initial fitting appointment, attachments are bonded onto teeth, which act as handles to facilitate complex tooth movements.  In some patients, polishing and contouring of teeth may also be required.  Invisalign aligners need to be worn 22 hours a day, but can be removed for eating, brushing and flossing.  Generally, each set of aligners are changed once a week.  Appointments are every 6-10 weeks for new aligners to monitor progress.   Retainers will need to be worn after completion of treatment to help maintain the new teeth positions.
